Kentucky Steamrolls Monterrey Tech 102-40 in Game 2 of Big Blue Bahamas

The Kentucky basketball team completely controlled the second game of four in the Big Blue Bahamas. With Chin Coleman calling the shots, the Wildcats rolled past Monterrey Tech (Mx.) 102-40 at the Baha Mar Resort.

To say Monterrey Tech was out-manned would be an understatement. Kentucky led 28-6 ten minutes into the game. By halftime the Kentucky lead had grown to 32 points. Monterrey Tech went almost ten minutes without scoring in the second half.

The Wildcats ran whenever they wanted. At one point Sahvir Wheeler went coast-to-coast to score in transition, off a made basket. The Kentucky basketball team scored 34 points in transition and won the battle in the paint 60 to 12 . It was a Bahamian blowout of epic proportions.

Seven Wildcats scored in double figures and four players had double-doubles. Oscar Tshiebwe had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Wheeler slid through the defense, scoring 14 points and dishing out 10 assists. Chris Livingston made 5-of-6 shots to score 14 points and wracked up 10 rebounds. Jacob Toppin also tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Adou Thiero (13), Daimion Collins (10) and Antonio Reeves (11) each reached double figures.

Not a Perfect Kentucky Win

Despite what the scoreboard says, Kentucky was not as crisp against a bad Monterrey Tech team Thursday night. In game one of the Big Blue Bahamas the Wildcats had 28 assists and only five turnovers. The Cats turned it over five times before the second media timeout of the first half.

The story was similar behind the three-point line. A night after shooting 42% from downtown, the Wildcats started 1-of-12 until C.J. Fredrick drained his first three-pointer as a Wildcat with a little more than 12 minutes remaining. They finished with seven makes behind the arc.

Lance Ware stayed on the sideline for game two. He was withheld from the action to rest a minor shoulder injury.
